Come in for an appointment with one of our Board Certified Sleep Physicians  to discuss your sleep problems and ideas to get you a better night’s sleep.  Our physicians can help treat you for any sleep disorder including insomnia, narcolepsy, sleep apnea as well as other various sleep disorders.   You can schedule an appointment on referral from your primary care physician or just call our offices for an appointment.

In Home Testing

This procedure is done for those patients who cannot come into the sleep lab for a overnight study.  It does not replace the overnight study and cannot be used to diagnose sleep apnea.  If a patient has a positive screening, they must return for an overnight sleep study.  Insurance will not cover an in home screening and will not cover treatment if only a screening is performed.  It consists of a nasal tube that monitors breathing, a belt around the waist to monitor respiratory effort and a microphone to record snoring.  It is done for a minimal cash price.

PSG (Polysomnography) - Over Night Sleep Study

This procedure is done to diagnose several sleep disorders from sleep apnea, narcolepsy, REM behavior disorder, insomnia, and a number of other sleep disorders.  Patients will be connected to a computer with several different electrodes that will monitor brain wave activity, breathing, oxygen levels, heart rates, and body movement.

CPAP/BiLevel (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) - Over Night Sleep Study

This procedure is done to treat sleep apnea.  It is very similar to the PSG in the electrode hook-up, however an additional device is used to help patients breathe.  Patients are given choice of different masks and counseled on the importance of CPAP usuage as well as how to acclimate to the CPAP machine.  (see masks and machines in pictures)  Patients are started on the lowest pressure and gradually increased till optimal pressure is reached and patient is sleeping with minimal apnea.
BILevel  (BiLevel Positive Airway Pressure) - Over Night Sleep Study -  This procedure is similar to the CPAP procedure, however a different machine is used.  The BiLevel machine enables patients a more comfortable inhale and exhale experience, typically for patients with more complex sleep apnea and other underlying medical conditions.  Generally, patients must fail CPAP before BiLevel can be approved with most insurance providers.

Auto Servo Ventilator - Over Night Sleep Study

This procedure is similar to the BiLevel and CPAP procedures, however  it is designed for those patients with a history of heart disease and central sleep apnea.  Patients must fail CPAP or BiLevel titrations to qualify for a treatment night with the Auto Servo Ventilator. Sleep Unlimited is currently one of the very few sleep centers in the area offering this specialized treatment.

MLST's (Multiple Sleep Latency Tests)

This procedure is performed during a patients normal waking hours.  Patients must spend the day taking a nap every 2 hours to evaluate their level of sleepiness during the day.  This study is typically done on patients with excessive daytime sleepiness, questionable narcolepsy, and those with DOT licenses.

MWT's (Maintenance of Wakefullness Test's)

This procedure is performed during patients normal waking hours.  Patients must spend the day with 4 - 40 minute trials where they are instructed to try and stay awake.  This is typically performed on patients that must obtain DOT licenses www.philips.com/truckingor on physician's orders for excessive daytime sleepiness, narcolepsy or follow-up after CPAP application.

PAP NAP

A PAPNAP is a short nap performed during the day to help patients aclimate to CPAP.  It lasts approximately 2-3 hours and is typically performed after lunch when patients are more groggy.  It is not necessary that patients sleep during the PAPNAP as this time is used for our technologists to help patients choose a mask and get comfortable with their pressure.  PAPNAPs are helpful for those patients that have some anxiety with their current CPAP use or patients who are first time users of CPAP and need help overcoming fears and anxieties related to CPAP.
